MASSAGE

Taking time from your busy schedule to enjoy a massage is a great way to relax and get away from it all, at least for an hour or so. But did you know that regular massages can also help you in many other ways? In the hands of an experienced massage therapist, you can also reduce muscle tension and pain, help sports injuries, alleviate tension headaches, improve digestion, boost your immune system, reduce anxiety, mood swings and insomnia, and enjoy a sense of caring and comfort.

Of course, if you have any serious health problems or are recovering from an injury, you should consult with your doctor first to select the best type of massage therapy for you.

Here at Birdie Day Spa, our three experienced massage therapists offer a variety of massage therapies. Most are 50 minutes in length, but you can also request a 90-minute massage or a shorter 30-minute neck and shoulder massage.

We are happy to introduce our newest type of massage – Bamboo Therapy Massage. Bamboo massage uses warmed bamboo stalks in different sizes, which the therapist rolls over your muscles. This provides a deeper, firmer massage. The bamboo stalks are often combined with hand massage and can be incorporated into other types of massage, such as Swedish.

Bamboo massage is similar to Hot Rock Massage, which we also offer at Birdie Day Spa.

In addition to using classic massage strokes, the therapist places heated, smooth, flat stones on key points of your body. These can relax muscles, improve circulation, calm the nervous systems and help those who feel cold or who have cold feet. The therapist can also use the smooth, warm stones to massage areas of your body.

If you are unsure what type of massage is best for you, ask our massage therapists for recommendations. The other types of massage we offer are:

Swedish Massage – This is a gentle form of massage, using long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration, and tapping. It will help you relax and feel more energized and is often used to help prevent or treat injuries.

Deep Tissue Massage – This type of massage uses slower, more forceful strokes that target deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It can help with muscle damage from injuries.

Reflexology – The therapist applies pressure to certain areas of your ears, hands, and feet, thought by some to correspond to organs and systems in the body. This type of massage can improve circulation, reduce tension, pain and stiffness, and boost blood circulation.

Sports Therapy Massage – Helps improve overall performance by restoring flexibility and range of motion.

Aroma-Raindrop Massage – This relaxing massage includes a custom blend of essential oils to help revitalize and rejuvenate your body, mind, and spirit.

*We also offer Prenatal Massage.
